The Fédération Européenne des Cadres de l’Énergie et de la Recherche (FECER) supports the Independent Trade Union of Ignalina Nuclear Power Plant (ITU INPP) in its call for employee representation on the INPP board. Aligning with European best practices, we emphasize that employee participation in governance strengthens transparency, improves decision-making, and upholds the principles of social partnership across the European Union. Given that the Lithuanian INPP decommissioning project benefits from EU funding, integrating employee representation would demonstrate a strong commitment to inclusive and collaborative corporate governance.
International best practice and the implementation of relevant EU directives regulating employee involvement in company management through their representatives is everywhere in Europe a key to industrial and social success.
Since a delegation from the FECER visited Ignalina NPP, we know how impressive a facility it is from a technical point of view. Yet true excellence lies not only in infrastructure but in respect for the people who operate it.
The FECER participates in the name of its Belgian, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Lithuanian and Spanish members in the European Social Dialogue and the unification process. It is an active member of the Confédération Européenne des Cadres (CEC European Managers), which brings together European managers and workers. CEC is ensuring managers’ interests as bridge builders between employers and workers.
